2022 - OWHA U18 HP Selection Camp

I am a 2005 goalie proudly playing in my with the Toronto Junior Aeros. My goal is to play hockey at the collegiate level. My graduation year is 2023 but I am open to taking a gap year and starting my post secondary studies in 2024.  I invite you to view my website where I hope you will discover more about me.

About Me

Throughout my years of playing hockey, I have grown into the person I am today from the experiences I’ve had and the many lessons I have learned. Doing my own training, on and off the ice, in the gym, and with my goalie trainers, Nick Dahan and John Elkin, has led me to realize the importance of setting goals and pushing hard with determination to reap the rewards of a strong work ethic and the importance of mental strength. Bonding and working hard on the ice with my team helps me understand that hockey is not just about personal growth but that the team plays their best when they work together. I have been fortunate to learn from many coaches the importance of placing the team first. I often put this into practice when my teammates need extra support by regularly staying behind in the net after practice. From my strong work ethic and a team-first attitude in hockey, I have been able to carry these skills into my everyday life. Having a strong work ethic helps me to set goals in school and understand that hard work always pays off.

Jon Elkin

Jon Elkin's Goalie Schools

"She is a technically sound goalie who moves well - quickly and  smoothly. Her tremendous flexibility is a great asset
on recoveries and plays in tight.  Besides these solid physical attributes, Lyla possesses the ability to focus on task and the  willingness to work hard. I love her determination and  competitive nature."

Tyson Teichmann,

Goalie Coach

"From a coaches point of view Lyla is one of the most coachable students I’ve had. She is able to take in the information given to her and apply it in real time. Not getting down on herself when things don’t go her way, she is able to bounce back and correct any mistakes she makes rather quickly. Rather then dwelling on the past, she maintains a good attitude and always thinks “what could I have done"?”

Karolina Urban,

Coach, Etobicoke U18 AA

"Lyla is a high-performance athlete who has displayed great work-ethic, shown determination in the face of adversity, consistently lead-by-example on and off the ice and most always puts the team-first."

Mike Pizzuto,

Teacher, Toronto Prep School

“Lyla displayed great collaboration skills, as she worked in groups, and was responsible for creating, and implementing her ideas…she took the Economics 12 course as a grade 11 student, and had the highest mark in the class, showing
maturity... Athletically, Lyla participated on our school hockey team... Lyla showed great leadership and amazing goaltending, leading our team to an undefeated season and tournament win."

Nick Dahan,

Dahan Goalie School

"Lyla demonstrates a productive and cerebral personality making her very coachable during our programs for the past two years. She stands out with her crisp footwork and ability to consistently read the play. She battles well for every shot with sound fundamentals.."

Francesco Bazzocchi,

Head Coach, Toronto Aeros U22

“Lyla's work ethic and dedication to harnessing her skills quickly came to my attention. She worked extremely hard in the off season with two goalie coaches.
She understands the game and excels on the technical and tactical skills required to be a top goaltender in our league. Her mental qualities are also quite evident through her confidence and resiliency. She is a terrific team player and we are very fortunate to have Lyla as one of our goalies this year.”
